Since 1998, FORUM OMEGNA hosts a vast collection of objects that have influenced the household industry in Italy and worldwide, displaying products by Alessi, Calderoni, Girmi, Lagostina, La Nuova Faro, Irmel, Tracanzan and Piazza.
The Permanent Collection revisits Omegna’s industrial history, from its beginning in the 19th century until today. Explanatory boards and memorable advertising campaigns accompany the items on display, adding further details to the factories’ fascinating stories.
The pictures portraying Omegna’s factory owners and founders allow a privileged look at the lives of these extraordinary personalities, enhancing the involvement of the visitors.
The exhibition is divided into four rooms that occupy two floors of the building. In addition to its great impact in terms of communication, it represents a promotional opportunity for our local enterprises. It is also considered a “LIVING EXPOSITION”: a guided tour is available on visitors’ demand, during which the objects can be touched, opened and even disassembled, so that a visitor may achieve a full knowledge of their technology through a multisensory experience.

The catalogue is part of the “I quaderni dell’ECOMUSEO” collection and narrates the stories of the men and objects that have contributed to the success of Omegna’s companies from the beginning of the 20th century until today. Its pages capture the compound of tradition and innovation which has accompanied the life of three generations, illustrating Calderoni refined production range, introducing Alessi state-of-the-art experimentations, supporting Bialetti “Moka Express” commercial success, describing Lagostina, Girmi, Irmel and Tracanzan memorable series and concluding with La Nuova Faro and its dreamy approach to the household object industry, and Piazza’s products for the professionals.

FORUM OMEGNA has been built upon the former ironworks “COBIANCHI”, whose blast furnaces were employed in the melting of cast iron. The ironworks’ old vault, its bearing walls as well as the travelling crane and its storage hoppers have all been preserved.
Ironworks “Cobianchi” has been Omegna’s first industrial complex until 1967 and its activity stopped during the 80’s, when the factory was closed down.
In 1995 Omegna’s municipal administration started the rebuilding of the old ironworks, laying the foundations for the present Forum.

“Fondazione Museo Arti e Industria” makes the most of Forum’s rooms to host a varied range of multidisciplinary events. The key words at the basis of each venture are fantasy and creativity: they inspire the Forum’s team and its attitude towards people.
TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS
Working in support to the Permanent Collection, they promote theme-based ventures and display private collections, giving special care to our territory’s values and resources.
In addition to the exhibitions, “Fondazione Museo Arti e Industria” organizes the so called “Animazioni Cittadine”, a cultural project where arts take inspiration from the territory, encompassing different glimpses of Omegna through the reinterpretation of the landscape. FORUM OMEGNA was born in 1998, thanks to the contribution from the European Union and the commitment of citizens. It is run by Omegna’s “Fondazione Museo Arti e Industria”, which also manages “Parco della Fantasia Gianni Rodari”.
